This presentation is focused on informing people about the intimate connection between anxiety and procrastination. Through psychoeducation people will learn that procrastination is a common and “normal” reaction to stressful situations because it is highly reinforcing. In other words, there is a reason why many people have difficulty staying motivated or may resort to putting off the important things in her/his life until tomorrow. Once people have an understanding of “why” procrastination occurs so commonly and what purpose it may serve in one’s life, then she/he can use basic techniques to counteract it. Backed by the most up-to-date research, attendees will learn to get things done and live the life they want to live. By identifying what is important to her/him, committing to making small steps towards those values, and learning how one can still do something all the while experiencing possibly uncomfortable thoughts, emotions, and sensations, people can start to get things done!
